Introducing Hotel Vermont

Nestled in downtown Burlington, at Hotel Vermont we offer guests a welcoming retreat just steps from the shores of Lake Champlain. Combining authentic hospitality with local charm, the property invites guests to explore, unwind, and savor every moment of their stay.

The problem

We relied heavily on manual processes for forecasting and optimizing performance. Every day, we manually uploaded rates into our property management system (PMS), which was connected with our central reservation system (CRS). This approach was not only time-consuming but also limited our ability to fully capitalize on revenue opportunities. 

We realized we needed a more efficient, data-driven approach that could bring automation, and accuracy to our forecasting.

We’ve adopted an Open Pricing model, adjusting rates in real-time based on market demand and other factors. This flexibility has been invaluable, especially during times of softening demand in our best available rate (BAR) segment. We’ve been able to strategically implement discounts and local rates, helping us achieve our Q3 budget.

2. Ease of forecasting and budgeting 

The forecasting reports have been key for our budgeting process. Updating by segment on a daily basis gives us a clearer view of booked business and future opportunities, making forecasting more accurate and less time-consuming.

3. Group segment optimization

We can now evaluate group business opportunities more effectively. Analyzing whether a piece of business is a good fit and determining the most profitable rate has never been easier.

4. Operational efficiency

Setting our rates is faster and easier than ever — it’s as simple as pushing a button. This efficiency saves us time and reduces risk of errors.

My advice

When choosing an RMS, take the time to thoroughly analyze what your hotel wants to achieve. Consider your goals, the level of detail you need in your analysis, and the size of your property. Then, choose the product that best meets your needs. For us, that was Duetto!
