2022 marks Duetto’s tenth year and to celebrate reaching double figures, we’re running a very special series of Q&As with some of our longest-serving unicorns. The latest in this series features Andreea Brescan, Director of Casino Services. Andreea has been with Duetto for eight years and during that time has witnessed a lot of the company’s huge evolution. Having started her revenue strategy journey at Caesars Entertainment Inc, she was able to bring vast amounts of valuable knowledge to Duetto and has been an integral part of the company’s growth ever since.
We caught up with Andreea to find out more about her time with Duetto, the biggest changes she’s seen, and where she sees her future headed.
You’ve been working at Duetto for 8 years now, how’s it been?
It’s been such a wonderful and unique adventure. When I first started, the company had just wrapped up the second round of funding and we were still the new kid on the block for RMS solutions. The innovation and growth that followed over the past 8 years are nothing short of spectacular. I’ve learned so much from being a part of both the hotel and casino teams from my present and former colleagues, and from all of our amazing customers. I am constantly inspired by the hard work and tenacity they each bring to the table, and it constantly pushes me to be better. I’ve learned so much and made so many great friends and memories along the way that I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything.
You previously worked in revenue strategy for Caesars Entertainment Inc; how did you like working there?
My role at Caesars was where I first learned revenue management. Starting with the former Imperial Palace (now the LINQ), then managing Planet Hollywood and the flagship property Caesars Palace was such an incredible experience, and I have learned so much through managing the complex revenue strategies of those big box hotels. One of the most exciting learning opportunities during my tenure there was opening the first Nobu hotel in the world within Caesars Palace. It was a challenging and rewarding opportunity where I got to apply everything I had learned since I started. Most importantly, my time at Caesars was so formative because of the people I met and who I later got to join for this amazing Duetto journey.
How is your role at Duetto different from your job at Caesars? What stood out the most for you in your first few weeks?
What stood out the most to me is the sheer passion and dedication to building something unique, innovative, and with the customer in mind. The level of collaboration, out-of-the-box ideas, and vision of where the product was going was very cool to experience. We were all rowing the boat in the same direction while bringing our own unique perspectives to things.
What do you think has been the biggest change at Duetto since you started?
We’ve grown a lot over the past 8 years. From our product to our team, to the market presence, and most importantly, our customers. It has been wonderful and humbling to be a small part of it. Yet despite all our growth, the core values and uniqueness that attracted me to Duetto in the first place are still there. That’s probably one of the reasons we continue to be successful and why our customers enjoy working with both our product and our team.
How different was the hotel tech landscape when you first joined Duetto?
Back then there were only a couple of RMS solutions that were available in the market. The approach Duetto pioneered with Open Pricing was so unique and innovative that it quickly transformed the way hotels and casinos approached their revenue strategy. Anticipating customer needs, connecting multiple departments that had previously worked in silos, providing top-of-the-line business intelligence reporting, and taking the concept of loyalty to the next level with dynamic, personalized, real-time pricing, are just some of the ways in which Duetto has pushed the hotel landscape forward. And we’re just getting started.
What would you still like to achieve with Duetto and how do you think the company can help you?
When I think about the opportunities that are still available to me after 8 years, it’s quite amazing. Every day I am still excited about the work I do and the new learning experiences that come my way. Whether it’s from new features we are constantly developing, new customers we onboard in different markets, or new ideas we each contribute regularly. I feel like there is still so much to discover. I love that my current role at Duetto allows me to continue to use and grow my revenue management skills as part of our strategic consulting services, where I get to use the application every day as our clients do. And it also allows me to be a part of an innovative tech company whose vision continues to change the way companies approach their revenue strategy. It’s truly the best of both worlds.
Where do you think you’ll be in ten years?
Hopefully, in ten years I’ll still get to call myself a Duetto unicorn. There are still so many things we’re innovating in the industry and I hope I get to be a part of that over the next few years.
