Alexa Szucs was our Unicorn of the Month for August. Alexa joined Duetto two years ago as a Technical Support Specialist in the Support team. In April 2022, she moved to the Product Integrations team as an Integration Analyst. Alexa has been incredible in her new role but is still missed as part of the Support team.
Alexa was awarded Unicorn of the Month for always going the extra mile with her colleagues and customers, and being exceptional in relationship building and teamwork. Her support for new starters is fantastic - she explains the intricacies of the system in the simplest way possible, sharing her knowledge and always being available to answer any questions.
Announcing Alexa as Unicorn of the Month at our August Town Hall, Duetto’s CEO David Woolenberg said: “Alexa is incredibly kind, positive and always has a big smile on her face. She is always ready to help, very patient, and excellent at explaining things so everyone understands.”
Speaking about her award, Alexa said: “It was an amazing experience and an incredibly big surprise to me, but it wouldn't have happened without the amazing team I'm part of.”
Here we catch up with Alexa to find out what a typical day looks like for her, what led her to join Duetto, and what the future holds for her.
Can you remember what it was that attracted you to Duetto?
I wanted to challenge myself in a dynamic environment where I could utilize my experience with the prospect of growing both personally and professionally. Duetto seemed to be a place that was going to go through some amazing changes that I wanted to be part of and I haven't looked back since.
Please tell us a little about your role and what a typical day looks like.
Every day is different as the role of an Integration Analyst is pretty versatile. The main goal for us is to certify new integrations, troubleshoot integration-related issues, and work closely with partners. We also provide support to other teams within Duetto if questions arise. Overall, I have the opportunity to dip my toes into various projects and tasks, which is cool.
What was the best day you've ever had working at Duetto?
This is going to sound cheesy, but I can't name a day that wasn't great! Perhaps the best one was when I got to finally meet a group of my colleagues in person. Having joined Duetto in the middle of the pandemic I only got to know the team in Google Meet from the "shoulders up" and that remained the case for the first six months. So it was awesome when we finally managed to get together and have a real-life chat.
What advice would you give someone thinking about a career in hotel tech right now?
I’d tell them to stop thinking about it and start to make it happen.
Where do you hope to be in five years?
All I know is that I'm hoping to continue being part of the Duetto team, working towards making our integrations better and more efficient.
Can you describe working at Duetto in three words?
Supportive, challenging, and fun.
