Unicorn Of The Month: Karina Pontecorvo Rodriguez

Karina Pontecorvo Rodriguez was our Unicorn of the Month for July. Karina joined Duetto in April 2019. As Customer Success Manager, she was required to work with some very large and complex accounts, all of which she handled efficiently and effectively. She was recently promoted to Product Manager of GameChanger, a role she is also smashing!

Karina was awarded Unicorn of the Month for being an amazing team member, always ready to help and consistently happy to share her knowledge in order to help others. She works tirelessly to find solutions to problems and to help our customers, and her colleagues simply can’t imagine life without her.

Announcing Karina as Unicorn of the Month at a recent Town Hall, Duetto’s CEO David Woolenberg said: “Karina is a delight to work with; she’s always in a great mood and is always positive with a smile on her face. She is a great team player and a real asset to Duetto.”

Karina’s teammates described her as a ‘wonderful human being with such a big heart’. They added: “She is always willing to help us and her customers, always kind and knows just what to say all the time. She is never upset and is always patient. She is just a superstar and we are so lucky to have her.

“She always goes the extra mile for any requests her customers submit, whether it’s something super huge or super small, she cares about absolutely everything. She has made a massive difference to the team.”

Speaking about her award, Karina said: “It was an unexpected and amazing surprise. I felt appreciated, especially from the comments from all Duettos once it was announced.”

We caught up with Karina to find out what a typical day looks like for her, what her biggest professional achievement is so far, and what the future holds for her.

What attracted you to Duetto?

I was drawn to Duetto by its amazing culture and reviews.

What does a typical day look like for you?

I’m not sure if there is a typical day; every day at Duetto is different. I would say days are usually filled with a mix of calls and messages from the developers, customers, and other Duettos, and preparation for the next development sprint.

What's your biggest professional achievement so far?

My recent promotion to Product Manager of GameChanger. When I started my career as a receptionist at the JW Marriott Mexico City, I would have never thought that my professional career would change so much. I studied Hospitality and wanted to make a change in the industry and in people's lives. I never thought that being in a hotel tech company could still allow me to achieve that goal.

What advice would you give someone thinking about a career in hotel tech right now?

If you are thinking about it, just do it. You will never regret taking a step forward for your career, but you will always think ‘what if?’ if you don’t.

What does the future hold for you?

I hope to continue to grow alongside this amazing company and my wonderful colleagues.

Can you describe working at Duetto in three words?

Family. Exciting. Fun.
