Pride Month: Hello Whitney!

Duetto is proud to nurture diversity within our team, which comprises individuals from various nationalities, cultures, and genders. One of our four core values -  'Come as you are' - underscores this commitment to creating an inclusive environment.

We actively promote the open exchange of experiences and ideas, and we support everyone’s development within the company. Balancing work and enjoyment, we prioritize fostering relationships that are essential for every individual's success.

Now, during Pride Month, we are taking the opportunity to connect with members of our LGBTQI+ community, to gain a deeper understanding of their experiences working at Duetto.

Let’s get to know them!

Whitney McFaddin 1670259378643

Meet Whitney (she, her).

Whitney joined Duetto in November 2022 as a Program Manager, Product Operations. She is in charge of finding opportunities to optimize the workflow between product, engineering, and customer success (CS). With rich experience in CS, Whitney transitioned to the product team where she fell in love with operations and has been developing her career in such roles for the last three years, first in property tech and now in hotel tech.

She has a self-confessed love of sports, soup, the beach (she lives in California, so of course!), reading fiction, and spending time with her nieces and nephew.

Let’s see what she has to share!

How did you first find out about Duetto? What attracted you to the company?

I was introduced to Duetto by another Duetto team member in 2020. I was attracted by the opportunity to work with talented people and the challenge of scaling operations at a growing company.

What is it like being a member of the LGBTQI+ community and working at Duetto?

Community is incredibly important to me. At Duetto, I’m comfortable being myself. I know I can ask for help when I need it, ask for opportunities to grow, share my opinion, and know that I’ll be supported.

Does Duetto foster an inclusive work environment? If so, how?

Duetto encourages us to learn from each other but also empowers us to do so. Our “Come as you are” meeting series is one of the amazing ways Duetto creates space for us to share our lives with each other.

One of our company values is ‘Come as you are’. What does that mean for you personally? And how do you see that represented by your work colleagues?

“Come as you are” means I am accepted and protected. My colleagues have different views, cultures, and experiences from me, but we’ve made a commitment to respect and support each other in our work.

How does working at Duetto differ from other places you’ve worked, in terms of the culture and attitudes of the company?

The Duetto culture feels genuine and authentic. I think culture is a direct reflection of leadership. I’ve worked at places where culture feels forced in order to look good to customers or on social media. Duetto’s leadership truly cares about the people who work here.

Tell us about the best day you’ve ever had working at Duetto.

This one is easy. Duetto brought the whole company together in Barcelona in February. We had productive and engaging morning meetings. We then spent the afternoon on an architectural scavenger hunt in the city center. We were serious about the competition, sprinting through the Gothic Quarter yelling fake clues to other teams in an effort of sabotage. My team proudly came in 2nd place. The team that came in last place looked a bit too happy with losing… their scavenger hunt may have led them to a local bar instead of a Gaudi masterpiece! And we ended the day celebrating company achievements over dinner and drinks. Best work day ever!

How will you be celebrating throughout Pride month this June?

I plan to participate in all of the Duetto-sponsored events. We’re planning a music event, LGBTQI+ movie night, and we’ll share Pride Playlists, volunteer opportunities, and educational resources. I’ll also volunteer with Diversity Collective in Ventura County. I can’t resist watching “But I’m a Cheerleader” and I’ll likely make an appearance at a rooftop pride party.

What opportunities do you see ahead for you at Duetto?

I’m happy at Duetto. I feel challenged and excited about my future. I have the opportunity to help Duetto deliver amazing things for our customers.

What would you say to others considering a role at our company?

“Come as you are!”
