See your hotel performance in 3D — with performance engineering.
Performance engineering is the new discipline for aligning your teams, metrics, and tools around what actually drives profit.
Hotels needed a new definition for what works.
So we made one...
Performance engineering
per•for•mance | en•gin•eer•ing
noun
1. The new discipline for operationalizing profit for hotels. It brings profit into every decision, the way your teams work together, and your strategies.
2. A new mindset, dataset, toolset and way of operating for running your hotel.
3. How you finally get a view of overall hotel performance — and engineer its direction.
Duetto's RP-OS gives you the tools to connect a performance engineering mindset to more profitable outcomes. See our latest thinking below.
Why performance engineering, why now?
Hoteliers are in a pressure cooker. Labour costs rose 20% since 2019, consuming up to 43% of revenue at unionized properties. Distribution costs fragment daily across OTAs, metasearch, social, direct. Guest behavior volatility is the new normal. Your hotel can post record RevPAR this year and be less profitable than last. That's not hypothetical — it's happening across the industry. The tools and the thinking have to change.
The first step: Moving beyond RevPAR to overall performance.
When RevPAR was invented 25 years ago, labor was stable and distribution was simple. That's changed. Now you can be winning at RevPAR but losing at profitability simultaneously due to factors that RevPAR just doesn't map. This is why the core principle of performance engineering is prioritizing the full picture of hotel performance: only visible when you look at both RevPAR and profitability metrics.
Performance starts with GOPPAR.
But it doesn't end there.
Revenue tells half the story. Profit tells the rest. This is why performance engineering needs to start with a view of the full performance dataset. And this view has never been more important.
