San Francisco, November 21, 2017 — Duetto, the hospitality industry’s only Revenue Strategy Platform, recently brought together revenue consultants from the UK, Spain and Portugal to discuss the most pertinent issues affecting hotel revenue teams in Europe.
At the end of September, Duetto welcomed 20 consultants to its EMEA headquarters in Waterloo, London. The half-day session included workshops on:
Top of the agenda were issues related to Open Pricing, with revenue consultants and the Duetto team discussing the benefits of being able to yield room rates independently based on dates, channels and room types. Delegates discussed how a rigid Best Available Rate pricing structure does not enable hotels to adapt to demand and price correctly.
“Open Pricing is something amazing that I really want to do and it is 100% logical. I had never thought about reduction discounts instead of closing rates,” said Guia Dinis, CEO and Founder of RevWorks-U, a revenue consultancy based in Portugal, who travelled to London for the event.
Discussions also focused on historical booking information and newer consumer-centric data and how to leverage that data. Other topics included forecasting, and how to compile and centralize real-time reports on performance data and forecasts, delivering big-picture insights across the entire company.
Talking about the event, John Gallagher, Sales Director in Southern Europe for Duetto, said it was vital for tech companies and consultants to improve their working relationships.
“The consulting community doesn’t have much visibility. We wanted to open the door and help them develop a more informed opinion on what is possible from Revenue Strategy. We want to help them understand the benefits of moving beyond legacy pricing methodologies toward a fully flexible Open Pricing framework,” he said.
“It is our intention to foster a community with the consultants across the UK and Europe to bring Revenue Strategy to the table. There’s so much for us to discuss and to learn from each other, and it is only by coming together than we can truly grow the market and innovate,” Gallagher added.
Speaking after the event, Dinis from RevWorks-U said: “This kind of event is very important. Duetto is developing the systems but we are the ones using them, so we need to understand them 100%. Through the Consultants Day we exchanged ideas between consultants and Duetto, and this is a win-win situation.”
“It was a great opportunity to get consultants together to meet and share best practice. I found it really informative and enabled me to develop my knowledge of Duetto and hear about the updates that are in the pipeline,” added Patricia Griffin, Co-Founder at Lightbulb Consulting.
