Here at Duetto we could not be more proud of our friends and clients in the hotel industry right now. We are hearing so many stories of hotel companies accommodating healthcare workers, repurposing their hotels into hospitals, and making charitable donations in terms of much needed funds and equipment.
We’d like to take a moment to celebrate some of our hospitality heroes right now:
Roomzzz Aparthotels – The company is providing complimentary accommodation to National Health Service staff at its properties located across the UK.
“We felt it was natural to want to help in some way. We have offered apartment stays in the past to charities to help their cause, so it was clearly the best way to contribute to the relief effort by opening up apartments on a complimentary basis to NHS workers fighting the Covid-19 virus,” Robert Alley, Chief Operating Officer at Roomzzz Aparthotels told Duetto.
Hesperia Hotels – Hesperia Sant Joan in Barcelona is using 80 rooms and apartments to accommodate patients in the recovery phase, and Hesperia Zubialde has reopened in Bilbao with its 83 rooms as accommodation for Bilbao hospitals’ health personnel.
“Hesperia has enabled protective measures in both properties, so its personnel can carry out their activities in safety. Some of them are also living at the same hotel so this way they also avoid putting their families at risk. We are very proud of the workers who have offered themselves for the cause,” said Dario Martinez, Director of Revenue - Urban Hotels, Hesperia Hotels.
NH Hotels Group – NH Hotels Group have donated 4,000 kgs of food; 5,000 shower caps and 12,000 amenities; 7,000 gloves and 2,000 garbage bags, 30 beds and 200 blankets. The company also has two medicalised hotels in operation, and one hotel providing accommodation for healthcare professionals. It also has six hotels on call. In addition NH Collection Eurobuilding is collaborating with local NGO World Central Kitchen to feed the most affected people.
PortaVentura World - The company donated €500,000 for the purchase of respirators to hospitals in the province of Tarragona in Spain. PortaVentura has also delivered 20,000 gloves and 8,000 raincoats for health use to the Joan XXIII Hospital, Hospital General de Catalunya and Hospital Universitari Sagrat Cor.
edyn - The extended stay accommodation provider has a few of their properties still open for long-stay guests. It is also offering accommodation to key workers or for those who have been displaced and are in need of an interim home.
Best Western - Best Western Great Britain is offering 15,000 hotel bedrooms and over 1,000 meeting rooms to help the NHS and local authorities through the Coronavirus crisis.
The rooms are available for NHS staff, care workers, families, lower risk patients and the over 70s to help take the strain off hospital wards and allow clinicians to treat the most vulnerable patients.
Never has the hospitality industry needed to be as hospitable as it is right now.
